People have until December 12 to name anyone deserving of the Shellharbour Citizen of the Year 2015 award.
Any Shellharbour resident who goes out of their way to help others, by volunteering for a welfare organisation, care providers or emergency services, or someone who has performed an act of heroism in the past 12 months would be ideal for nomination.
Mayor Marianne Saliba said the awards were a rare opportunity to thank the "caring and kind people" in the region.
Selfless acts of bravery, helping someone in their time of need - they are all reasons to nominate for our citizen of the year award," Cr Saliba said.
Everyone nominated will be invited to attend the Australia Day Dinner.
Nomination forms are available at shellharbour.nsw.gov.au or by calling 4221 6244.
