The Mixed Triples battle is covered on the back page, but it went end for end and point for point, and going into the last end the score stood at 24-all. The Jones team scored three shots and the eventual score line was 27-24.
Next to be played was the Ladies Consistency final between Jackie Kirk and Cathy Dawson; another close game with the competitors heading into the last end locked at 134 points each. A tension filled end eventually saw Jackie score plus two, which ensured the championship was hers.
Another close Championship game was played in the preliminary rounds of the club Mixed Pairs, this time between the team of Mireille Minet and Brian Hudson against Sharon Brown and Rob White.
Skipping out to a healthy lead, Sharon and Rob obviously created motivation for Mireille and Brian who fought back valiantly and eventually won 25-24.
Social triples were played by the ladies on Tuesday, resulting in a win for J. Brownlie, E. Price and J. Nicholades. Thursday was again Triples day and winners this time were C. Dawson, J. Brownlie and G. O'Donnell.
Our men managed to play social on Wednesday with winners D. Coughlan and K. Bratby. Pairs were held on Thursday with B. Gibson and N. Tylee declared winners and pairs again on Saturday where K. Bratby once more featured with G. Bartrim.
Saturday was a busy day of men's social bowls with a visit of players from Pitt Town, in Kiama for their annual bowls Challenge Trophy.
The Ump needs a rest!
