It is alleged that a 22-year-old woman from Melbourne was caught at the Launceston Airport with 500 grams of ice taped to her body.
Members of the Northern Drug Investigation Services made the arrest on Friday.
Police say that that amount of ice would carry a street value of half a million dollars.
She was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance.
Her travelling partner, a 40-year-old man also from Melbourne, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
The pair had recently arrived in Launceston on a flight from Melbourne.
