The event was held as part of the KidsFest 2014 Recognition Awards ceremony at the c1 Speed Karting at Albion Park Rail.
A variety of business and community groups gathered at the Albion Park C1 Speed Karting tracks to take part in the celebrity race and other track races.
KidsFest Shellharbour is a week-long festival that celebrates the region's children aged from 0-12 years.
The event aimed to highlight business and community groups which have showed their support for the KidsFest program.
Artistic director Ann Lehmann said the awards were a way of reminding the “big people” not to lose touch with their inner child.
KidsFest president Gennifer Anderson said the event was held every year to give back to supporters and sponsors.
“It is a great way to wind up the hard work of KidsFest because it is a yearlong project and today really starts the momentum for next year,” she said.
“The artwork awards have been created by our local children and will be given to businesses so they hopefully display it in their businesses.
“This will be the second year we have commissioned the children to do the artworks and they get a real buzz when they see it hanging up on the wall.”
Among the award winners were Shellharbour TAFE, UOW Early Start Discovery Centre, Emergency Services Expo, Barrack Heights Community garden and early Years Care, Playgroup Muster and many more.
The 2015 theme was announced at the awards and will focus on Celebrate, Connect and Play for the next round of week-long of activities.
