The Oak Flats Dads Committee is setting the race track from the top of Fisher Street to Wentworth Street Oak Flats as 81 kids and 20 open participants prepare to race this Sunday, October 26.
Committee president Lloyd Powell said the event was in its second year and aimed to get dads more involved with their kids.
"It's a great event that engages the whole community and brings everyone together," he said.
"The derby will be a lot of fun and it's always good to watch everyone's smiles.
"We have kept it cheap and we have T-shirts on sale this year. Bunnings also got on board and sponsored the event, providing us with all the materials to build a billy cart.
"So we had a build night, where all the kids and parents got to learn how to build one."
All the proceeds raised from the event will be donated to Oak Flats Public School.
Mr Powell said local businesses and the council had really amped up their support for the event.
"The community has really engaged with the event and council got on board and donated $2500 for funding," he said.
