The students will also get the opportunity to play alongside jazz legend James Morrison during the October 28 concert.
Earlier in the day, Australia's best known trumpeter Morrison will perform with the Generations in Jazz Academy Big Band under the direction of Graeme Lyall OAM.
This is the fifth time in seven years that Morrison has come to play with the Megaband, which last year had 165 performers, and is led by Conservatorium jazz program director Eric Dunan.
The Generations in Jazz Academy Big Band, featuring university-aged musicians who have spent 2014 in a residency program rehearsing and studying jazz under the direction of South Australian musical director Graeme Lyall, will also perform a set of hard swinging big band music.
This band features two of Morrison's sons as well as former Con student Matt Vecanski.
"The Megaband Show has become my favourite event every year," Dunan said.
"I always look forward to spending a day with a bunch of keen and excited young musicians, and get really excited about teaching them new music, especially the jazz stuff.
"The kids always put on a great performance, and the audience just loves it."
The concert will be held at the University of Wollongong's Uni Hall on October 28 from 7pm.
