Ten volunteers were presented with Long Service Awards.
“These awards are in recognition of the outstanding efforts and diligent service shown by these 15 members who have dedicated many years to volunteering for the NSW SES,” Kiama MP Gareth Ward said.
“In fact when you add up their years of service together it equates to 85 years of experience.
“While all volunteers in the NSW SES show an extraordinary level of commitment to their communities, award presentations such as this provide special recognition to those volunteers whose accumulated wisdom and experience is irreplaceable and who through their wealth of knowledge, share important insights during training sessions.’’
During the past 12 months the NSW SES Shellharbour City volunteers have provided more than 10,000 volunteer hours of their time in helping their communities during times of flood, storm and other emergencies.
NSW SES Acting Commissioner Jim Smith, who also attended the award ceremony acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who received awards.
“It is a fantastic achievement that 10 of the local Illawarra region’s NSW SES volunteers are being awarded with Long Service Awards.
“One of the strengths of the NSW SES is the great team spirit and friendships that develop within the volunteer Units and it is this strength which sees volunteers staying with the service for many years.’
