LIFE has been made a little bit easier for the organisers of the Kiama Jazz & Blues Festival after they received $10 000 in funding from the State Government for next year’s event.

Organised by the Kiama Jazz & Blues Club, the annual event stretches three days and attracts national and international acts to the Kiama region.
Jazz & Blues Club president Steve Ivory said the State funds would form a significant part of the required funding for the festival.
“It probably takes about $50 000 or $60 000 to run the festival each year, so this is definitely a big portion of that and something that we really appreciate,” he said.
“It’s always a bit of an effort, we’re a not-for-profit group and we rely on a fair bit of community support, so funding like this takes the strain off a lot of people.”
Mr Ward said he was happy to have secured the funding for the festival.
“Initially the Premier said no to the funding, but I spoke to him and outlined the importance the festival has for the region, both in attracting people to the area and in giving local people a chance to enjoy some great music.
“I’m glad that the funding could be secured, the festival is a great thing for Kiama and I’m looking forward to a fantastic weekend when it comes around next year.”
The 2015 festival is set to be held on March 6 – 8.
