Lake Illawarra Local Area Command will open its doors this Sunday, October 19, for a day where visitors can join a guided tour through the station.
The tour takes in the holding cells, frontline duties area, charge room, patrol office, crime management unit and communication areas.
Last year about 4000 residents took part in the open day and community safety officer, Sergeant Jason Harrison said, and large numbers are expected this year.
Displays include public order and riot squads, dog squad, police rescue, police trail bikes, marine area command, highway patrol, police vehicles and frontline police display.
A helicopter is scheduled to land at 11am . The station will be open between 10am and 2pm.
Entry is by gold coin donation and all proceeds will go to the Denny Foundation.
