The club will host a fund-raising Sportsman’s Lunch upstairs at the Sebel Function Centre on Friday, October 31.
Guest speaker will be author, raconteur and journalist, Peter FitzSimons of the Sydney Morning Herald.
The event will raise money for Flinders resident Adam Regal and his family, as well as the fight against motor neurone disease.
Mr Regal was diagnosed with MND in late 2013, aged 30.
His father and uncle died of MND when they were aged in their 50s.
It is a terminal neurological disease that causes death between one to five years after diagnoses.
Cost is $120 per person, and there are a limited number of seats available.
This includes three-course meal with tea or coffee, plus one beverage.
There will also be prizes for auction and raffles.
The event runs from 12.30pm-4pm.
Inquiries: phone Ray Redgrave on 0499545155.
The account details for payment or donations are: Acc. Name: Lions Club of Kiama, Direct Deposit: BSB 641-800 Account No. 200391730.
Meanwhile, the Rock 4 Regal concert will use music to help the fight against motor neurone disease.
The event is in honour of Mr Regal and his Regal Regiment.
The show will raise funds for the MND team at Macquarie University.
Bands performing are all Illawarra artists who will be giving up their own time for the cause.
Performers include Furious Monk, Sentient, Crash Tragic (whose bass player Paul Ditton is Mr Regal’s brother-in-law), Fires Were Started and The Conspiracy Plan.
Rock 4 Regal is on Friday, October 24 at Kiama Leagues Club auditorium.
Tickets are $10, available from Oztix.com.au or Haworth Guitars.
