Asian river cruises specialist Active Travel is offering $US500 a person discount on flights to and from Burma on bookings of its 15-night Pandaw River Exhibition.

It includes a seven-night cruise on the Irrawaddy River aboard a 40-passenger colonial-style river boat between Pagan and Mandalay and another seven-night night journey aboard a smaller, 20-passenger vessel on the upper reaches of the river between Mandalay and the remote trading settlement of Bhamo close to the Chinese border. It also includes a night in a four-star Mandalay hotel in between the two cruises.
Lots of interesting land excursions and an internal flight in Burma are also part of the package. The holiday departs every weekend upstream or downstream from November to February.
