Paul Hindmarsh, 31, of Gerringong has been accused of one count of murder following the death of fellow patient, 47-year-old Joseph Gumley at the Eloura West facility on July 31.
Mr Hindmarsh was absent from the hearing at Port Kembla Court today.
The matter was adjourned pending a post mortem and pathology report and will return to court on November 12. These reports are expected within four to six weeks.
Two investigations into the Eloura West facility are currently being conducted by the Shoalhaven Illawarra Local Health District and the Department of NSW Health.
No information on these investigations has been released at this point.
At a court appearance on August 1, Hindmarsh’s lawyer, Angela Melouney said Mr Hindmarsh’s mental health issues were likely to mean he would be declared mentally unfit to enter a formal plea.
