Shellharbour City Council has partnered with childcare providers throughout the region in the effort to improve and support a range of environmental initiatives as part of the Growing Minds Greening Communities program.
The nationwide Garage Sale Trail on Saturday, October 25 encourages families to engage in sustainable practices, including recycling.
The market will provide an affordable option for families to purchase quality second-hand goods.
Anyone with unwanted quality second-hand baby and children's goods are invited to book a free stall at the GMGC Baby and Kids Market at Centenary Hall, Albion Park.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said selling unwanted goods was an excellent alternative to throwing them away, and helped to reduce waste going to landfill.
"This event provides our community with another option for recycling quality items during the weekend of the Garage Sale Trail at a prominently located, accessible venue," Cr Saliba said.
The market will be open between 8am-12pm at Centenary Hall, Albion Park and shoppers are encouraged to bring their own bags as it will be a plastic bag free event.
Stall numbers are limited. Registrations are taken online at www.gmgc.com.au/market or contact the council on 4221 6351.
