This year’s theme is ‘My Favourite Place’.
“The library is looking to further develop the collection of local photographs and build a picture of the Kiama region in 2014,’’
Kiama Information Services librarian, Ken Donnellan said.
“We all have a place where we feel at ease, comfortable and happy.
‘‘It may be the town centre, or the serenity of the hills.
‘‘Be it a cafe, beach, backyard or landmark, no matter where it is, it’s ‘my favourite place’.”
Photographs are to be taken in the Kiama Municipality.
There are cash prizes for winning entries in each of the categories; 5-12 years, 13-18 years and an Open division.
All prizes have been provided by the ‘Friends of Kiama Library.’
Entries close on Friday, October 31 at 5.30pm.
Selected photographs from the competition will be exhibited at Kiama Library from November 25, with winners announced on the same day.
Entries will be judged by Dulcie Dal Molin, president of Red Point Artists Association and Exhibition Director of Red Point Gallery.
Dal Molin is also involved in photographic reproductions and restorations at Wollongong and Shellharbour libraries, and is a life member of Kiama Shellharbour Camera Club.
There will be a Mayor’s Choice Award, whereby Kiama Mayor Brian Petschler will choose his favourite photo in the competition.
A staff choice will also be made, and a highly commended.
