Gold Coast Cops, Ten, 7.30pm

Chisel-jawed blokes who look great in a singlet and lithe, action-loving sheilas taking on the baddies in a beachside holiday paradise: it's not a new cop drama but a fly-on-the-wall series about the Rapid Action and Patrol Group that was formed after last year's Broadside bikie brawl to defend the good people of Queensland's Gold Coast. In this premiere episode, there's a bomb in a Hell's Angels member's car and a car and helicopter chase, set against a backdrop of sun, surf and tanning lotion and accompanied by the soothing tones of all-round nice bloke Sam Johnson. Oh, goody.

Four Corners: The Seduction of Smoking, ABC, 8.30pm

Some will see this BBC two-parter as an even-handed look at an industry that insists it's trying to change its ways. Others will be infuriated that it gives time to companies whose products kill five million people each year. British reporter Peter Taylor has been covering the industry for almost 40 years and, although his antipathy to it is clear, he does let Big Tobacco air its message. That has changed greatly from denial to now: "We're sorry, our product does kill, but it's legal. We're trying to make it less deadly and we have a duty to our shareholders to protect the industry and help it continue to thrive." And thrive it does, making an estimated £30 billion ($55 billion) a year. Taylor speaks to school kids, health experts and smokers whose habit has taken them to death's door before their time. He covers the industry's denials about its health effects, its attempts to recruit new younger smokers and its well-funded fight to kill off the Australian government's plain packaging. Watching cigarette company mouthpieces put their case, presumably being paid big bucks to do so, feels like watching defenders of slavery or gambling. Part two screens tomorrow night.

Lost Girl, SBS Two, 9.20pm

Supernatural drama series have become the genre of choice to explore issues of sex, sexual identity and independence. This Canadian effort tills that fertile ground and, even though it looks stylish, it's too often let down by dialogue that's meant to be sharp but is dumb, soap opera acting and plot contortions that challenge belief, even of the viewer willing to accept a show about faeries, demons and wolf spirits. Tonight Bo is reunited with Dyson after the bombing of the Fae elders. Dyson has a terrible secret…

Slimefest 2014, Nickelodeon, 5pm

Slimefest is Nickelodeon's annual family-friendly music festival. As this 90-minute highlights package hits the screens, kids will probably still be bobbing along the ceiling after the weekend's extravaganzas in Melbourne and Sydney. The festival, hosted by Nick's dynamic comedic duo Luke and Wyatt, will feature live performances by the likes of Cody Simpson, Alli Simpson, Justice Crew, Timomatic, Sabrina Carpenter, The Collective and Savage. This special will also include behind-the-scenes interviews and an attempt to break the world record for the most kids slimed in one go.

Inside Iceland Supermarket, BBC Knowledge, 9.30pm

A reasonably interesting documentary series about Britain's Iceland supermarket chain and its slightly eccentric founder and CEO, Malcolm Walker. Iceland is widely sneered at for specialising in cheap frozen ready meals - many of them priced at less than £1 ($1.80) - but British workers have twice voted it the best big company to work for. Walker works hard to inspire managers and to motivate floor staff with cash prizes. Tonight's episode was filmed last year as the horse-meat scandal rocked Iceland and other British supermarket chains - and as Walker's attempts to hose down the media firestorm began to backfire.

Ian Fleming's Goldfinger (1965), GO!, 9.30pm

For many, Ian Fleming's Goldfinger is the best Bond film ever and it's easy to see why. It is an outrageously fun mix of a diabolically clever villain, fabulous Bond women, irresistible title song and unforgettable array of minor characters. The film starts with a cheeky pre-credit sequence, famous for a would-be assassin being reflected in the eye of a near-naked woman. Bond (Sean Connery) despatches the killer in an electrified bath, courtesy of a tossed radiator, and mutters to the femme fatale: "Shocking … positively shocking!" That is perfection, as is the later exchange between Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) and 007, who lies strapped to a metal table with a laser beam moving menacingly between his splayed legs. Bond: "Do you expect me to talk?" Goldfinger: "No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die!" In between these classic moments, the film moves to a hotel in Miami Beach, with Bond in a cute blue pantsuit seducing Jill Masterson (Shirley Eaton) just before her perfect skin turns gold. He's a dangerous man to know - and on the golf course, as well. The metal-hatted Oddjob (Harold Sakata) has to employ all his crafty powers to help Goldfinger defeat Bond at the Princes Golf Club, but our man at MI6 is just too smart to be duped that easily. (Historian George Almond has helpfully broken the contest down into every shot, with drawings to match; see Ian Fleming's James Bond, 2006). Actor Christopher Lee has revealed that one of Fleming's greatest desires was to become captain of the Royal St George's Golf Club. He died of a heart attack before he could take up the position. But Fleming had a fulfilled life and he gave us the greatest secret agent ever, in print and on film.

Hidden Agenda (2001), 7Two, 8.30pm

Despite US television shows promising otherwise, the FBI does not have superhuman powers, as Jason Price (Dolph Lundgren) soon discovers. This is resolutely B grade.
