The Bulldogs, in just their second season, survived a desperate last-minute Kiama attacking raid to clinch the win in an entertaining contest at Collegians Sporting Complex.
The minor premiership-winning Knights have long been the benchmark of the League Tag competition and opened the scoring in just the third minute when Talarah Bell crossed for 4-0.
Kiama showed great resilience to keep their line intact despite being peppered for several sets in succession.
Milton eventually took the lead through a converted Kaela Thomas try, heading to the sheds up 6-4.
Shortly after the resumption, the defending premiers failed to find touch from a penalty kick, and paid the price when a slick Taryn Love try subsequently extended the buffer.
Mel Hole finished off Bell’s great run, the four-pointer cutting the deficit in half and setting up a grandstand finish.
Milton was able to withstand a spate of penalties against them throughout the second stanza, as well as some nervous moments as Kiama threw everything at their goal-line defence during the dying stages.
Milton’s Emmah Haynes was named Player of the Match.
