The first annual Kiama Classic Family Fun Ride will take place on Saturday as part of NSW Bike Week.
It will aim to encourage people to cycle for health and environmental benefits.
Kiama Council road safety officer Janelle Burns encouraged residents to get their bikes out for spring and enjoy Kiama's shared path system.
"The ride is a fun family day that increases awareness of safe cycling issues and encourages people to try cycling as a low-cost and environmentally friendly method of exploring some of the Kiama area's most scenic destinations," she said.
The event is a joint initiative between the council, the Heart Foundation, Kiama Bicycle Users Group and Roads and Maritime Services.
The five-kilometre return course will take place on family-friendly off-road paths that skirt across multiple beaches, under the gaze of Kiama's lighthouse.
The ride will begin with registration at 9am.
The ride starts and finishes at Black Beach reserve at 10.30am.
It will take place around Kiama Harbour, crossing on to the shared path at the blowhole loop, before continuing south via the entry to the headland.
The ride also heads through Kiama Showground and down along Surf Beach, before steeply climbing in preparation for the descent onto Kendalls Beach.
The turnaround point is at the southern end of Kendalls Beach.
At the end of the ride, participants can enjoy a barbecue from the Minnamurra Lions Club.
Registration forms are available at the start point on the day.
Entry is $2 a person, or $5 families, with proceeds to the Heart Foundation.
