Curley, who had a young son named Max, passed away suddenly in his Tarrawanna home on August 25, aged 42.
He was believed to be looking after the house for a friend and had moved in only a few months earlier.
Curley was one of the band’s founding members, along with brother and guitarist Lenny, singer Richie Lewis, drummer Steve O’Brien and guitarist Paul Hausmeister.
Before he died, the band had been booked to headline the Young Henrys Small World Festival in Marrickville on September 20.
The future of that show was up in the air until yesterday when the band posted a message to its Facebook page, stating it would go ahead as a tribute to Curley.
‘‘We will be playing Young Henry’s Small World Festival in honour of Jay,’’ the post read.
‘‘Filling in on bass will be Jay and Lenny’s older brother Pat Curley. Hope to see you there to celebrate the life and times of Jay Curley.
‘‘Any other future bookings will be decided at a later date.’’
The news was warmly received by fans, with some seeing it as a fitting way to pay tribute to Mr Curley.
Tumbleweed had agreed to play at the River Rocks Festival in Geelong on November 15, with two other shows pencilled in before that but Mr O’Brien said the band was unsure if they would play any of them.
He also said the band was about to release a new video for the single Drop in the Ocean.
‘‘It was intended for release anyway and was in production at the time of Jason’s death, just that now the song has more meaning and will be a further tribute to him,’’ he said.
Last week Mr Hausmeister called the bassplayer ‘‘the face of Wollongong rock’n’roll’’.
‘‘Long hair, big smile, tattoos on the outside with a warm, loving, gentle soul on the inside,’’ Mr Hausmeister said.
Over the weekend, singer Richie Lewis wrote a Facebook post to Mr Curley, listing the good times they’d had.
‘‘We shared a dream, a life of wild musical adventures and we did it! And we had fun,’’ he wrote.
‘‘I’m gonna miss ya.’’
Mr Curley’s funeral services will be held at Parsons in Dapto on Friday, September 5 at 2pm.
