This annual tournament has a strong history as a NSW Waratah breeding ground. Current Waratahs and Wallabies Michael Hooper and Rob Horne played in the NSW PSSA tournaments and were also selected in previous NSW PSSA sides.
Howling wind and rain greeted the teams at the picturesque Kiama Showground playing fields on Day 1, however this did not detract from skilful and energetic rugby played throughout the three days of competition.
The Waratahs' latest booty - the Super Rugby trophy - was on show for all to see and Waratahs captain Dave Dennis visited at the halfway point of the competition and attended the championship's 30th anniversary dinner.
The Waratahs skipper was joined by Tim Rapp, Waratahs U-20s and Elite Pathways coach.
The championship finished with the NSW Catholic representative sides Polding and MacKillop in the final, with MacKillop too strong winning 19-12 in a very high quality game.
The local boys representing South Coast did themselves proud, picking up the Convenors Shield.
Drawn in a very strong Day 1 pool with 2013 Champions CIS and Sydney West they lost 5-0 and 12-7, but dominated the opposition on Day 2 and Day 3, not losing another match. See kiamaindependent.com.au for more photos.
