The Salvos have partnered with National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations for the week, which will be held from August 24-31.

National Op Shop Week aims to raise awareness about the importance of supporting op shops in local communities, and let the community know about Salvos services.

Warilla Salvos store manager Tennille Round said the week helped to generate awareness about the work of the Salvation Army within communities.

"It promotes op shops and lets people know what we are doing here," she said.

"The Salvos have been helping people for 125 years and through the op shops we can provide a variety of things to those who need it such as food, furniture and clothes.

"With the rising cost of living we just want to let people know that we can help with some things, like clothes for children.

"Parents can afford to dress their children well and can do that at a reasonable price, while also help to reduce landfill."

Ms Round said Salvos would run a 50 per cent-off sale throughout Op Shop Week to celebrate.

All proceeds collected through Salvos Stores will go towards running programs that help to assist the less fortunate and the community, while also reducing environmental impact and encourage recycling.

General manager of Salvos Stores Australia Eastern Territory Neville Barrett said during the past 10 years there had been a 75 per cent increase in sales for Salvos Stores.

"With the rising cost of living now impacting on a large section of the community, people from a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds now shop at Salvos Stores," he said.
