The petition signed by 10,000 people opposing the development will be debated on Thursday, November 13.
Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson, formally tabled the Stop The Hub Community Group's petition in the Legislative Assembly on August 12, after formally meeting with the Stop the Hub group earlier in August.
Ms Watson said the Minister for Local Government was notified of the petition and a response request had been made, leaving the minister 35 days to respond.
"Given we now have a date set for this debate in the State Parliament, I am hopeful that all Shellharbour city councillors and a delegation of the Stop The Hub group will agree to my proposal of a face-to-face meeting to discuss their range of concerns with the proposal," she said.
In a council meeting last week, Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said she had welcomed the group for a talk to address their concerns.
"I have made it very clear to the Stop the Hub Group that if they wish to come and meet with me they are more than welcome," Cr Saliba said.
She said when the group didn't approach the council, the council extended an invitation to them.
"I wrote to them telling them that they were welcome to come and meet and if they do I will notify all councillors, so that all councillors may attend along with executive staff and staff responsible for the hub."
Ms Watson said the petition will be debated , whether or not the meeting takes place, however she still believes the project will not be stopped by the state government.
