THE body of a 65 year-old man has been recovered after he disappeared off rocks at Blowhole Point this morning.

The man, believed to be from Sydney, was fishing from the eastern tip of Blowhole Point with a 60 year-old companion.
The two men were a distance apart when the man’s companion noticed he could no longer see the missing man and raised the alarm at around 10.25am.
‘‘The man’s companion has said that he could no longer see the man and that he had noticed waves washing through the area,’’ sergeant Jason Harrison from Lake Illawarra Police said.
‘‘The man was fully clothed, and had a back-pack trolley arrangement on his back, which caused some confusion as it was thought to be a life-jacket at first, unfortunately that carried a lot of weight.’’
Police, SES, the NSW Ambulance Helicopter and Kiama lifeguards all assisted in an extensive search for the man in the waters surrounding Blowhole Point.
The man’s body was spotted by theLifesaver 1 helicopter at around 1pm around 500 metres of Surf Beach.
