Thirteen students created Eventure as part of their second year Diploma of Events Management, and will hold a corporate golf day at The Links Shell Cove on September 5.
At the launch students got together with gold sponsors IPG, Print Media and Volcan Ford Wollongong to launch the event, which will raise funds for the Thomas Kelly Foundation.
Tafe student Stephanie Masella said the launch was designed to "amp up" the event and apply what they had learned.
"As part of our study we had to create an event together and put it into practice," Ms Masella said.
"The event encompasses all of the core subjects of the event management diploma and gives us a snapshot scenario.
"Today is about bringing in our gold sponsors and hands-on practical learning."
Tafe Illawarra teacher Georgia Davies said the event was in its sixth year and this was the biggest yet.
"This year the event has really stepped up a level and it shows how the foundations of the course has really gained some momentum in the wider community," she said.
"People have come and approached us this year to get involved in the event and the whole community has really got behind the event.
"The students do everything from scratch and they have done such an amazing job. They are always coming up and sharing new ideas and we give them a free run to implement those ideas in a real world situation."
