Sydney Film Festival brings the event to Wollongong from Friday, August 29, to Sunday, August 31.
The festival will transport residents around the globe, with films from India, France, Italy, the US, the UK, Canada and Morocco.
Nine feature films and four short films will show over the weekend at Greater Union Cinemas, with tickets on sale online now.
The winner of this year's Best Film at Sydney Film Festival, Two Days, One Night, will kick off the Wollongong leg of the Travelling Film Festival 2014. Acclaimed writer-director brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne created this moving and masterful work starring Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises).
Travelling Film Festival manager Alicia Emery said she was looking forward to the opening night film.
"I'm so excited for the people of Wollongong to see Two Days, One Night," she said.
"It was up against some stiff competition for the Best Film Award at Sydney Film Festival and the fact that it took home the prize just goes to show how powerful a film it is."
Other highlights include India's indie hit of the year, The Lunchbox, telling the story of Mumbai's remarkable dabba (lunchbox) delivery system.
On Saturday night, Australian horror smash, The Babadook, will screen, directed by Jennifer Kent.
Gia Coppola's film Palo Alto will round off the weekend. It is based on short stories written by James Franco, who also acts in the film.
