It's worth repeating that the facilities have been part of council's planning and decision-making for the past 20 years.
That planning has included investigation of various sources of funding for the project, resulting in the current financial model.
Funding for the proposed development has been identified and continues to be raised through a number of sources, including a recent grant provided by the NSW state government to pay for the fit-out of the city library.
The grant was awarded due to the merit of the project and is reserved for that purpose.
It's certainly the case that the council administrative offices form a significant part of the hub.
What may not be appreciated is that the floor space allowed per person in Lamerton House is equal to that allowed for in the new offices but will be used in a far more efficient and cost effective manner.
The floor design is 10 per cent bigger than our current facilities to allow for future growth.
In addition, it will also provide superior services to the public including a civic auditorium, city library and fully functional museum, and meeting rooms.
