Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba, Member for Shellharbour Anna Watson, Member for Kiama Gareth Ward and Academy chairman Brian Weir welcomed athletes and spoke of the importance of sport and its role in developing citizens.
Shellharbnbour Municipality scholarship holders for 2014 included Abbey Golub, Jenna Golub, Chelsea Davey, Jade Wilson and Hayley Golub (netball), Danielle Vasquez, Stefanie Hall, Jack Kessell and James Krzyszczak (golf), Brooke Johnston, Rylee Lawrence, Courtney Soper, Jayden Gebbie, Jayden Tzortzis and Madeline Gonclaves (lawn bowls), Erin Massie, Maddie Smith, Riley Smith, Regan Pabis, Josh Adams, Zac Nyrhinen, Brady Anderson (hockey), Kade Szakacs, Sarah Gomes, Kayleigh Falconer (Individual athlete), Olivia-Rose McEwan, Dante Olivieri, Georgia McEwan, Casey-Lee Bedford (IAP), Joshua Fullerton-Harvey, Reece Owen, Jared Barnes and Sione Lufe (rugby union).
Special mention was made of long-time board member John O'Dwyer who is standing down after serving 26 years on the Academy Board.
Athletes in attendance received a backpack from Mayor Saliba.
