Mr Clancy and his wife Carol were among the 298 passengers tragically killed on the MH17 flight that was shot down in the Ukraine on Friday last week.

The two former teachers of Albion Park primary school had recently retired to go on the three week trip to Europe. The school were shocked to hear the news and support has been provided for staff and students.

The service will start at 2pm and run for about an hour. All community members, students past and present are invited to attend the event.

A temporary memorial has been set up in the quiet area at the front of school enabling flowers, tributes and cards to be left and students, teachers and community members to reflect on the contribution Mr Clancy made to the school.

Member for Kiama Gareth Ward announced that condolence books were available from today (Wednesday, July 23) from the Kiama electorate office.

Mr Ward said the book would allow local residents from across the region to pay tribute to the victims of flight MH17 Michael and Carol Clancy.

"The condolence books will allow the public to express their sorrow, grief and to pay tribute to the innocent victims of MH17 in a personal way," Mr Ward said.

"Our region has suffered terribly with the passing of Michael Clancy who was an exceptional educator and his wife Carol, who were returning home from a trip to Europe.

"Sadly we now know that six NSW residents were on board the plane. I offer my prayers and condolences to the Clancy family and to the many people across our region who had their lives enriched by Michael and Carol," he said.
