Police are investigating after a counterfeit ten dollar note was taken in a Kiama cafe on Wednesday.

The note was discovered when the cafe owner deposited business takings at his bank on Wednesday.
While the money was being banked, the teller identified a ten dollar note as being counterfeit.
The owner was advised to contact police.
Police from Lake Illawarra LAC attended and obtained details from the business owner. The counterfeit note was collected and will be forwarded to the Australian Federal Police for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
Lake Illawarra police have urged residents to be on the look out for counterfeit notes.
