Crooks target hot water units

POLICE from the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating a spate of hot water unit thefts throughout the area.

Continuous hot water units have been disconnected and removed from the outside of homes in Albion Park, Blackbutt, Flinders, Horsley, Primbee, Shell Cove and Windang.  

Police say most thefts have occurred at houses still under construction in new property estates, however several have been taken from occupied homes.

The hot water units range in size up to approximately 65cm x 50cm x 25cm and are capable of being carried by one person.

Police are interested in hearing from anyone who’s seen people or vehicles acting suspiciously, particularly in the new housing estates – police would like to hear from you.
