In a game that never really reached any great heights, it was the home side which made the most of their opportunities as they ground out the win after leading 12-6 at half-time.

It did not take long for Jamberoo to open the scoring, pressing the Gerringong line Matt Coehlo put in a grubber which bounced of a defender and back into his arms allowing the captain to score.

Jarrod Schodde’s conversion made it 6-nil.

Jamberoo then showed some urgency at the other end of the field, with only some desperate defence stopping Peter Cronin from crashing over out wide.

It was then the visitors who needed to dig deep in defence, a bust up-filed by Josh Saunders put Jamberoo in prime attacking position, but Gerringong held firm.

Jamberoo made the most of their next opportunity though, Coehlo’s boot again bring Gerringong undone.

This time his grubber popped up into the hands of Robbie Noble and the back rower strolled over.

Schodde’s second conversion made it 12-nil.

Just as it looked like Jamberoo were taking control, Brad Davidson and Patrick Cronin combined to send Joel Roberts in under the posts.

Roberts converted his own try to make 12-6 at the break.

Gerringong made it back to back tries, an early penalty in the second half put them in prime attacking position and they made the most of it as Patrick Cronin and Roberts combined to put Chris Mann over to make it 12-10.

Following Mann’s try the game descended into a scrappy affair with both sides guilty of turning the ball over.

It was the Superoos who broke out the funk first, Coehlo grabbed his second after backing up on the left fringe, Schodde converted for 18-10.

It was not long before Jamberoo were in again, an obstruction penalty against Roberts as he gathered a kick on the line put them on the attack and Saunders crossed.

Schodde converted to make it 24-10.

With the upset firmly in their sights Jamberoo did not let up and Mark Asquith landed the killer blow when he crashed over under the posts.

Schodde’s fifth conversion made it 30-10.

To Gerringong’s credit they did not give up and did all they could to fight back, Patrick Cronin muscled his way over next to the posts, Roberts converted to make it 30-16.

The Lions were in again soon after, Patrick Cronin and Davidson again teaming up and this time allowing Kal Collins to race away, Roberts making the conversion from out wide to make it 30-22.

It was too little too late however as time expired and Jamberoo came away with the win.

For Jamberoo Coehlo, Saunders and Ben Jones turned in fine performances, while Davidson, Patrick Cronin and Jackson Merritt did all they could for Gerringong.
