Police said he died as a result of a wound to his head.
His family have told police they believed he was on a business trip.
On Thursday (June 12), Mr Gasovski’s family contacted police to report him missing after he failed to return from a business trip to Canberra.
He had told his family he had left home for Canberra about 3.30pm on Monday (June 9), and said he would be back on the following evening (June 10). He hasn’t been seen since.
Police Strike Force Berek to investigate his disappearance and comprises detectives from Lake Illawarra and State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
Investigations are now underway to establish Mr Gasovski’s movements before his body was found.
Earlier: Police are scouring CCTV footage from as early as last Monday for clues into the discovery of a body in bushland at Jamberoo Mountain.
A strike force has been formed to investigate the death of a man found in bushland at Jamberoo lookout on Sunday morning.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, has not been identified. Police formed Strike Force Berek to investigate and are treating the man's death as suspicious.
Police responded after a park ranger found a man’s body in an area of bushland near the top of the lookout, just off Jamberoo Mountain Road, about 8.45am on Sunday
On arrival they found the body of a man believed to be in his 40s, who has not yet been formally identified.
A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.
State Emergency Services were called in to conduct a co-ordinated search of surrounding bushland, and remained on the scene for hours after the initial report.
Forensic investigators and police rescue officers also stayed at the scene until well into Sunday evening, until contractors arrived to remove the man’s body about 5.30pm.
Detectives from Lake Illawarra local area command have formed Strike Force Berek to investigate the death, which is believed to be suspicious.
Police have requested CCTV footage from businesses in the Jamberoo area.
‘‘They contacted us yesterday afternoon, looking for footage from Monday until Sunday morning,’’ Jamberoo Pub licensee Erica Warren said.‘‘They said they were just looking for a car that drove through town. They didn’t say much more, I only heard about the body on Facebook.’’
Ms Warren said she did not believe the man would be from the Jamberoo area.
‘‘I think we would know if it was anyone in town, someone would have said something,’’ she said.
‘‘I was up at the school today, we were all checking that everyone’s husbands and brothers were around. Nobody seemed to know anything.’’
A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police have asked that anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
