A large cake stall will take place at Blue Haven Hostel in Havillah Place, Kiama on Saturday from 9am to noon.

There will be masses of homemade cakes, muffins, scones, as well as plenty of jams, pickles and chutneys.

Col Rathbone, secretary of the Friends of Blue Haven Aged Care Facility said the annual event typically raised several thousand dollars.

"You name it, they have it - they're all nice homemade cakes, and the good ones always disappear quickly," he said.

"As usual, all the ladies have been hard at work creating their handicraft."

All proceeds will go to the provision of better facilities for the residents of the hostel and nursing home.

Mr Rathbone said this year's proceeds would go towards buying electric beds for hostel residents.
