Kiama GFC's postponed tournament was staged on May 31 and June 1, with good weather for Saturday but poor conditions for Sunday.
Water temps off shelf were still about 23 degrees, with blue marlin, tiger and mako sharks, and mahi mahi in the mix.
Steve Banks went north and found some good water, with bait and billfish giving angler Steve Liddle a blue marlin weighing 150.5 kilograms on a 24-kilogram line to take out heaviest marlin.
Ironically, they hooked the blue after losing a large short billed spearfish under the boat moments before and only had two lures out resetting the spread when they hooked the blue.
A hectic day was had by team Get Em Out who went south off J. Bay and found plenty of sharks.
They captured two tigers; 225kg on 10kg and 253kg on 15kg to take out champion boat capture, with Guy Eastly winning heaviest shark and champion angler capture. They also tagged three sharks and didn't get a chance to have lunch.
The sharks must have kept the marlin on edge as marlin boats down south didn't have any action.
Reckless tagged three makos off Kiama and took out champion boat tag and release.
Get Em Out crew member Justin Dawes took out champion male angler tag and release to continue their hot run. Justin also won the lucky angler draw and a Shimano 50W to add to all the prizes they won - they should go and buy a lottery ticket!
Champion lady angler went to Belinda Colbeck fishing on Like a Tiger. Most other game fish went to team Simrad with 10 mahi mahi.
Next year our Blowhole Comp will be on March 28 and 29.
