With Wests enjoying a good pole position before the big clash, University came back with a vengeance with lethal weapon Simon Beaton back in the team and scoring two goals.
He was ably assisted by Joe Plumb, who also scored a double, with the other goals coming from Brock McCracken, Jeremy Huk, Paul Counsell and Ross Sharpe, recently recruited from Fairy Meadow, who withdrew from first grade.
University have now moved to the top of the table with 19 points, followed by premiers Albion Park on 17 points.
Park easily overcame bottom-placed Dapto 7-0 with double goals from Steve Mayo and Shane McLeish and assisted by the likes of Brady Anderson and Callum Mayo, nephew of Steve Mayo.
In a deferred game, University scored a record 21-1 win over a hapless Dapto, Paul Counsell scoring six goals and Beaton hitting four, hat-tricks from Flynn Ogilvie and Corey Harding and the others from Jeremy Huk (two), Heath Ogilvie (two) and Nick Jennings. Brodie Billett scored Dapto's sole goal.
In second grade, Fairy Meadow drew nil-all with Kiama, Park beat Uni Red 5-3 and Uni Blue beat Wests. In a deferred game, Uni Red beat Wests 5-2.
