Hosted by Shellharbour City Council, the Library on the Lawn will run from 10am-1pm and organisers said it would feature a number of activities.
"It will be a good day," Shellharbour City Council manager libraries and museum Diane Cranson said.
"It allows us to showcase the site where the new city library will be located, and it's also an opportunity for us to get out and engage with residents and show them what the library has to offer.
"Most of the activities we do are inside our libraries, so it's a nice change to be able to get outside and do something different."
Shellharbour City Mayor Marianne Saliba encouraged people to attend the day.
"I'd encourage people to come along to the Library on the Lawn," she said.
"There will be an Easter egg hunt and children's stories as well as a book swap on the day, so there's something for everybody.
"It's a great way to introduce the site, I make no apologies for that.
"A lot of people don't actually know where the site is and it's important that they do.
"I also support any opening that encourages people to be involved in reading and involved in our libraries and see what they have to offer."
The event will be held at the corner of College and Cygnet avenues.
