One of the most consistent performers on the world stage, Pollard got the perfect start to the 2014 competition, scoring 13.4 points (including the top wave score of the final, 8.23) on the way to downing Canada's Alexandra Rinder (11.63), Jessica Becker from Brazil (8.73) and fellow Gerringong competitor Emma Cobb in a fairly low-scoring final.
Round two is likely to be held in Chile.
