The fire, which broke out at around 1.30pm, quickly engulfed the home. It is believed the elderly man, who is aged around 90, jumped from the balcony of the home to escape the flames. It is not known at this time if there was anyone also in the home at the time.
A Rural Fire Brigade spokesman said the building was well alight when local brigades arrived, with paramedics treating an elderly man.
"Brigades are still fighting the fire and will have to wait until the integrity of the structure is checked before entering the home and searching for anyone else who might have been in the home," he said.
A rescue helicopter landed at the nearby Michael Cronin Oval to transport the man to hospital.
