Kiama MP Gareth Ward last week announced projects throughout the region, which had received funding under the state government's 2013-14 Better Boating Program following the allocation of $5.4 million in grants for more than 70 projects across NSW.
These projects included $260,000 for Shellharbour City Council towards an upgrade of the existing boat ramp and the construction of a new jetty at the Shellharbour Boat Harbour.
"The Better Boating Program is about funding local projects that make a big difference in improving boating facilities for the local community," Mr Ward said.
"It aims to make recreational boating facilities safer, more accessible and able to cater for increased demand.
"Under the program the government supports local councils, boating clubs and other agencies to upgrade and improve facilities at popular local boat ramps.
"I look forward to seeing these projects under way in the new year," Mr Ward said.
