Volunteers take time to lounge

KIAMA Mayor Brian Petschler officially opened the new Golfers' Lounge at Jamberoo Golf Club on Sunday.

While there, he praised the efforts of the 30-plus volunteers who have worked on the project.

Special praise was reserved for member Michael Carr, who came up with the concept and was instrumental in the planning and building of the renovations.

Beginning in November 2012, the slab was laid and the mammoth task began.

Using many recycled materials, the building slowly evolved. The club is fortunate to have members who are professional tradesmen.

They were only too happy to volunteer as the labourers, carpenters, plasterers, painters, electricians and plumbers for the completion of the lounge and office project.

The project will soon be complemented with the construction of a covered barbecue area.

The club celebrated the efforts of its volunteers with an afternoon of golf, followed by drinks and a barbecue.

New members are always welcome.
