Tony was the winner of the second competition held by the club back in 2008 and based on his recent form, there is a real possibility that he could become the first runner to win a second championship.
In second place was Craig Harris although this was one of those rare occasions on which Craig did not record a best time.
Warwick Shanks again featured in a top five finish, just pipping competition leader Allan Sim who in turn beat Allyson Weston by a single second.
The long-course championship is set for an engaging finish with a group of half a dozen runners consistently featuring in a top five finish. With seven runs remaining in the twenty week competition, Allan Sim maintains his lead with 41 points ahead of Craig Harris (36), Sharon Behl-Shanks (35), Warwick Shanks (35), and Tony Maloney (21) while Allyson Weston on 17 points remains a possibility for a second championship win.
Jasmine Mills reduced her best time by a neat minute to clearly win the two and a half kilometre run. Jay Papesch-Ward was in second place, being the only other runner to record a PB on the day.
Annie Schweitzer finished in third place, fifteen seconds ahead of the championship favourite Ellie Burnett, with Alicia Harris securing the final bonus point for a top five finish.
It was pleasing to see Grace Mahon back competing during her recovery from a broken leg.
Ellie Burnett retains her championship lead with 41.5 points with the only serious challengers being Luke Behl-Shanks (28.5) and Tireni Mawbey (28).
