BROOKE Winley from Dapto proved herself on the national tennis stage during the recent Spring Nationals at Sydney Olympic Park.
After a strong performance the previous week in the NSW Cup, Winley was not fazed when she drew the top pool in the 14 girls' singles event.
She won Pool A and on her way to the quarter-finals defeated the top-ranked girl in the country.
Although she fell short in the quarter-finals, Winley finished seventh in the final placings, setting her up for an exciting summer tournament series.
Wollongong hosted a silver level Optus Junior Tournament last weekend, with many of our junior players producing some great results.
With the tournament winding up this week, Jayden Smileski is in the final of the 12 boys' singles and 12 boys' doubles.
Emil Thaning and Adam O'Shannessy reached the semi-finals of the 14 boys' singles. Angela Graovac reached the semi-finals of the 12 girls' singles and Mia Repac reached the quarter-finals.
Congratulations to Adrian Haise, who won the final of the 16 boys' singles with Mark Perri finishing third and Matt Stratton finishing fourth. Lauren Smileski defeated Carley Spinks in the final of the 16 girls' singles.
