THE week's highlight at Kiama Bowling Club was the final of the Men's Major/Minor Pairs, which resulted in a nine-point win for S. Bamford and W. Montefiore, over A. Van Zanen and A. Morgan.
Other club competitions featured mixed pairs winners. The Hodgson mother/son combination won their game against C. Rymer and S. Wills, the Read husband and wife combination won their match against M. Gabbott and K. Pepper, and N. Brown and M. Weir beat M. Walker and A. Van Zanen.
Family was also to the fore in the mixed triples, with the mother, father and daughter Jones combination holding out B. Hudson, C. O'Neil and G. O'Neil in a thrilling game.
The winners took the game by three points.
Ladies also played the annual Norma Taylor Pairs competition, which R. Jones and C. O'Neil won with two wins and a margin of +11.
Runners-up were M. Partridge and N. Brown with two wins and a margin of +7.
Morning winners were L. Wallace and M. Walker with a margin of +16 and the afternoon prize was taken out by S. Read and E. Parkin with a margin of +10.
In men's social bowls, Wednesday winners were D. Coughlan and G. O'Neil, Thursday pairs winners were K. Pepper and D. Newman and the Saturday triples game was a victory for the team of J. Nisbet, K. Bratby and B. Blomley.
There is plenty of competition to come and the greens will be full next week, with a contingent of almost 50 bowlers visiting from Cabra Vale.
