SEPTEMBER is always a busy month for the Kiama Bowling Club, with various club competitions and of course the annual general meeting, which this year featured Ray Walker being elected president for a second term.
He will be ably assisted by Peter Quilty as vice-president and Jackie Kirk as treasurer. The other office holders are Ted McGinness, Doug Downton, Audrey Evans, Steve Bamford, Peter Wallace and Mike Yalden.
George Clowes, the ever-popular secretary, was also re-elected for a second term.
Selectors (a thankless task) will be Steve Wills, Kevin Pepper and Peter Wallace and the games committee will be comprised of John Bodey, Mick Miller and Tom Hodgson.
We congratulate everyone on their appointments and wish them every success in the discharge of their responsibilities.
There was only one club championship game to report on this week and that was yet another thriller in a semi-final of the major/minor pairs.
After 19 ends the score stood at 18 points for the pair of W. Montefiore and S. Bamford, and 17 points for M. Yalden and J. Nisbet.
A brilliant shot by S. Bamford placed the jack in the ditch, securing him and W. Montefiore five points and the game.
Social bowls resulted in wins for the trio of J. Brownlie, B. Hudson and K. Dukes on Wednesday, the pairing of W. Corkin and J. Heidtmann on Thursday and another pairing of G. Bartrim and I. Baird on Saturday.
See you on the greens.
