Kiama Art Society’s 35th annual exhibition was opened by Kiama Mayor Brian Peschler on Friday night, and with prizemoney totalling $8,400 there were some very delighted artists.
Dr Tony Hull and Ms Kim Shannon from Bowral judged 380 entries contributions by 165 local, North Coast, Sydney and South Coast artists.
Kiama Art Society president Judy White praised the quality of the show and said she expected a big crowd to attend during the exhibition.
“We have a wide variety of paintings and there is sure to be something for all tastes,” she said.
“In particular a big thankyou to sponsors and members for their support and assistance throughout the exhibition.”
The exhibition is open from Saturday, August 31 to Sunday, September 8 form 10am to 6pm and will close at 1pm on the final day.
Overall winner was Yvonne Langshaw who took out the Kiama Leagues Club major prize of $2500, second was Lexie Watt and third Jean Murray.
The Robert East Memorial Award for watercolour was Sandra Hendy.
