THERE was no moisture on the Kiama Bowling Club greens this week, so our bowlers made up for lost time in the club championship stakes.
First up were the ladies. In their fours competition the victors were the team of J. Hair, E. Parkin, M. Minet and S. Brown, who combined to defeat J. Brownlie, M. Dobe, R. Jones and L. Cook.
Three minor singles rounds were also played and results for those featured C. O'Neill overcoming V. Hayter, J. Clowes prevailing over S. Brown and L. Wallace the winner against M. Minet.
There was only one championship game played by the men due to other commitments, yet this match provided the biggest thrills of all games played thus far.
The teams of R. White, B. Hair and C. Regan and M. Lomas, R. Walker and D. Gorham played shot for shot until the last end, when a multiple score resulted in a 24-23 score-line favouring White, Hair and Regan.
The men's social bowls also managed a full program, kicking off on Wednesday with a triples competition won by M. Mesa, J. Ferguson and W. Montefiore.
Runners-up were M. Mehmet, B. Weissel and A. Morgan.
The Thursday pairs regulars filled the greens, W. Corkin and M. Miller winning by a large margin.
Runners-up were G. Clough and T. Martin.
Saturday competition was a mixture of pairs and triples games with the triples team of G. Bartrim, R. Keating and T. Hodgson securing the win. A pairs combination of K. Dukes and C. Coleman were worthy runners-up.
Finally, a reminder to all bowlers to arrange competition matches as soon as possible and prior to the stated closing dates.
This is so we are able to complete our competitions before the maintenance periods kick in and green space becomes limited.
