Diann Rodgers-Healey, executive director of the Australia Centre for Leadership for Women (ACLW) is hosting and compering the three events. They are a Panel of Political Leaders on July 25; Panel of Aboriginal Women Leaders on August 29 and panel of Community Leaders on September 26.
The first panel will feature Throsby MP Stephen Jones, Kiama MP Gareth Ward, Shellharbour MP Anna Watson and former Kiama Mayor Sandra McCarthy.
Dr Rodgers-Healey, of Kiama, who was a finalist in this year's NSW Woman of the Year, said she deliberately chose the Illawarra as the location rather than Sydney.
"I think it's important to feature leaders in the Illawarra," she said.
"There are certain people who are well-known but there are so many people in the community who do great work that need the light shone on them. And I think the issues in the Illawarra are different to anywhere else."
Dr Rodgers-Healey said she would ask questions of panellists to begin a conversation around the central theme of leadership. An audience Q&A will follow at the end.
"It is not just about what is happening politically," she said.
"It is to frame it in a way that the panellists themselves can then reflect on their own leadership journeys, how is leadership emerging and what are the constraints and how they deal with those constraints."
Shellharbour City Council's Veronica Bird, an executive member of the NSW Local Government Aboriginal Network said she was looking forward to the events.
"I like the concept and then you have a combination of leaders within the community is terrific. I think it's a wonderful opportunity. The panels are something I look forward to attending as well as participating in."
The panels will be at the City Beach Function Centre, Marine Dr, Wollongong. Tickets are $22 full/$16 concession.
Each event will start at 6.30pm for 7pm. Tickets are available from the City Beach Function Centre or phone 4228 3188. Bookings for the first session close on July 22.
