The club seeks paper for the premium return it gets associated with an Adelaide based kitty litter company.
The paper is collected by local identity and Lions member Wally Barrett who said the fundraising exercise is something that wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the support of the Coorong District Council.
"It's hard to believe now, but not long ago recycling paper wasn't feasible for the club anymore," Mr Barrett said.
"If it wasn't for a negotiated contract with an Adelaide based kitty litter company and the support from the Coorong District Council, with subsidised freight, we would not have been able to continue the service - we get a premium price for our paper now."
Mr Barrett has been the Lions' recycle man for five years, taking over from the late Keith Tucker and Dudley Plummer who provided the service for 15 years.
Like clock-work, each Tuesday Mr Barrett quietly mooches around Tintinara collecting bundles of clean paper from the town's deli or motel/hotel and roadhouses.
"I enjoy catching up with people each week, we have a number of pre-arranged collection spots, but a lot of the locals drop off their paper at the depot," Mr Barrett said.
