New season spells success

KIAMA Bowling Club members are rejoicing over dry, autumn days.

There is good in everything though, and the previous bad weather did allow many of the bowlers to busy themselves helping in the refurbishment of the club bistro and auditorium. This will reopen as Giovanni's on March 22, much to the delight of starving club members and guests.

A full program this week saw the ladies pennants competition on both Tuesday and Thursday with Kiama having mixed results.

The threes won both their matches against Figtree and Thirroul and although the ones and fours lost on both days, our ladies performed well. They are confident that the hard work will pay dividends in the coming weeks.

For the men, Wednesday social triples resulted in a win for the team of T. Bartrim, J. Tomlinson and C. Twigg with runners up J. Mair, J. Mears and G. Clowes.

On Thursday, the once a month special pairs day was played across all available rinks with highest margin deciding the winners.

A gusty wind made life a little difficult but on the day the pair of B. Gorrisen and A. Rodgers prevailed, with A. Morgan and K. Parker picking up second prize.

Club competitions also continued with a preliminary round in the Major Singles being played, with J. Twist prevailing over G. Bartrim.

Our male pennants teams all travelled away from home this week with twos and fours at Bulli and sixes at Dapto.

Our twos won 5.5-0.5, fours went down 6-0 and the sixes were victorious at Dapto 6-0.

It is early days yet but the contests are shaping up to be the best for many a year.
