THE Mid South Coast Zone Little Athletics Grand Prix series came to a conclusion on Sunday at the Shoalhaven Carnival, with the Kiama athletes performing strongly.
The Shoalhaven club was crowned the overall winners of the four carnival series, with a number of Kiama athletes claiming podium positions. These included Matthew Page (2nd under-6 boys), Darcy Arnold (2nd under-6 girls), Nakita Boatswain (2nd under-7 girls), Maggie Page (3rd under-11 girls) and Thomas Page (2nd under-14 boys).
More than 330 athletes from the six centres within the zone contested events in the Grand Prix.
This weekend a number of Kiama's little athletes are heading to Wagga Wagga to take part in the regional championships and we wish them all the best. Those in the under-9s and above age groups who finish in the top two qualify for the State Championships, to be held at Homebush from March 22-24.
For those who claimed medals at the zone championships, lanyards are now available at the canteen on Friday nights for $2 each.
