JAMBEROO Public School's magnificent seven took their first day of kindergarten in their stride last Wednesday, making up a small class at the little school.
Oliver and Jordan Poole, Romany Janssens, Max Palk, Pippi McInnes, Ryan Smith and Jules Frost, all five years old, took to school life like seasoned professionals, making the most of the knowledge they gained at last year's orientation day to help ease any first day jitters.
Teacher Carol Xuerub, in her fifth year at Jamberoo, said it was extra special to teach kindergarten.
"I love teaching all children, but these youngsters are so keen to learn," she said. "It is a very special day for them and the school."
Jordan said he was keen to start school so he could play with his brother and "learn stuff".
His cousin, Oliver, was looking forward to using an iPad, while Romany said she would enjoy spending time with her older sister and learning things in class.
Principal Sue Cartwright said the school's numbers had dropped slightly on 2012.
"We had a large year 6 last year of 22 students and only had seven kinders start, but our numbers are still strong at 110 and that means the same number of classes as last year," she said.
"Probably the most pleasing aspect has been that there seems to be some younger families moving into the area and that means more new students in the future."
